Even some of our regular guests can hardly believe it, and even seasoned travelers to Crete are amazed time and again: Could this island really be such a particularly worthwhile destination around the turn of the year? — Yes, it is!
Spring usually begins in southern Crete in mid-November, after the first rain: That’s when nature bursts into life—within a few days, everything is green and in bloom, and the “Little World” quickly turns into a small jungle. At a time when parts of Central Europe are sinking into gray, the sun shines almost every day in southern Crete, with temperatures often well above 20 degrees—and when it rains, it kindly does so mostly at night.
Anyone who has ever visited “O Mikros Kosmos” in the summer or fall will hardly recognize it and will be enchanted by the lush green hues of the landscape!
Until early January, the sea is still warm enough for swimming—even if a walk on the beach sometimes presents some adventurous scenes.
And what else...? In any case, our “Small World,” the “O Mikros Kosmos” hotel, is a special place to spend the New Year’s holiday—no matter how you choose to spend your stay.
And on January 6, you can join in the celebrations at the Theophany D!
And what’s it like in “O Mikros Kosmos” itself...?
Our bungalows are always pleasantly warm: underfloor heating and cozy blankets for the night ensure a comfortable atmosphere, even when it gets a little cooler at night.
For breakfast and dinner, you can sit under the olive tree or in the wood-fired tavern.
The library transforms into the Christmas café “Le Monde.”
The sauna is turned on upon request—the pool house is heated to bathrobe-friendly temperatures. And the pool becomes the largest cold-water plunge pool in Crete...
Elizavet’s specialties are available à la carte for dinner: And on New Year’s Eve, Elizavet will treat us to a special menu! On New Year’s Day, there will be a traditional Cretan BBQ. And—Freddie the Cat is planning the big show “Freddie—Fire on Ice”!
And of course, “O Mikros Kosmos” is decorated for the Christmas days.
